The Battalion System

So you want to join the April Knights. After you swear an oath and pass an interview, you will need to decide what battalion you’re most interested in. Your battalion will define what Knights you will march with, fight with, laugh, and cry with. These will be your closest compatriots in the valiant struggle for order in the midst of chaos. Choose wisely (though you can transfer between battalions).

The Order of the April Knights is global, so you may wish to choose a battalion that shares an appropriate time zone with you. Some of our region-specific battalions specify their area.

What Are Battalions?

Battalions are the core units of the April Knights. Every Knight joins one, and in doing so finds a smaller community within the greater guild. Each battalion has its own commander, its own culture, and its own focus. Some battalions are serious and disciplined, others playful and creative. Together, they give the guild both strength and variety.

Joining a battalion means:

  • Having a commander who provides guidance and direction.
  • Finding like-minded Knights to strategize, laugh, and compete alongside.
  • Contributing to the guild in the way that best fits your style.

What Are Divisions?

While every knight belongs to a battalion, divisions are open to any knight in the order. They are specialized groups that serve the order as a whole, focusing on tasks that reach beyond any one battalion. Divisions are how the April Knights organize work, creativity, and leadership across the guild.

Examples include:

  • Heralds – Keepers of story, history, and narrative. They record our legacy and craft the voice of the order.
  • A̸̿̑r̴̅͑c̴̲͋a̸̿̃è̴̊n̵̑̃ư̶̂m̴̾̏ (Arcaenum) – Our mages who design and build tools, bots, and websites that empower the knights.
  • Scarlet Feather – Diplomats and emissaries who lead our relations with other factions.
  • Builders – The architects of our events and workhorses of recruitment. They design the experiences that bring us together.
